How To Participate

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO ONSITE REGISTRATION THE DAY OF THE EVENT – REGISTER NOW

Scoot & Shoot is a four stage Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Biathlon.

An ORV is used for the two off-road stages so you will need an ORV or join a team with someone who does. Both members of the team participate in the target shooting stages. No previous firearm experience, training or license required.

Off-Road Stages

Teams of two ride the stages together to set a time, teams can ride:

  • 2 people on 1 dirt bike
  • 2 dirt bikes
  • 1 dirt bike & 1 ATV (quad or side x side)
  • 2 people on an ATV (quad or side x side)
  • 2 ATVs (quads or side x sides)
  • 4 or 6 people in a side x side (multiple teams can ride in a 4 or 6 passenger side x side together)

Each off-road stage will have a preset average speed. THIS IS NOT A RACE – to achieve maximum points teams needs to complete the stage at the preset average speed. Go too slow you lose some points, go too fast you lose a lot of points.

The off-road stages will be beginner to low-intermediate difficulty (think green to easier blue ski hill runs). The stages consist of a mix of forest service roads and off-road trails wide enough for side x sides. We’ve designed the stages to be safe for a wide variety of abilities while incorporating as much trail as possible to keep it interesting. The stages will be marked, navigation by map or GPS is not necessary. Please contact us if you have questions about the off-road stages.

Target Shooting Stages

Both members of the team participate in target shooting stages, both team member’s scores are counted.

The Vernon Fish & Game Club will provide everything necessary for the two target shooting stages including:

  • Eye and hearing protection
  • Firearm safety training and direct supervision while target shooting
  • 22LR pistols and 22LR rifles – we use 22LR because it is an easier calibre to learn on. Most people learn to shoot on a 22LR because it’s quieter and doesn’t have a big kick.

The Vernon Fish & Game Club Range is a safe environment to learn how to shoot with the guidance and supervision of trained firearm owners. View the Range Day photo galleries to see the crowds of happy participants in 2023 & 2024.
