For National Range Day 2025 we tried a cross-over event called “Scoot & Shoot – an Off-Road Vehicle Biathlon” to bring people from the off-road vehicle community to the range.
This family-friendly competition pitted teams of two against the clock on the trails and tested marksmanship at the range. Teams competed for the top score across four stages:
- 22LR Pistol Target Shooting
- 22LR Rifle Target Shooting
- Becker Lake Off-Road Vehicle Loop
- Bardolph Lake Off-Road Vehicle Loop
Both team members participated in the shooting stages and complete the Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) stages together.
The event didn’t bring the number of participants we were hoping for, plus it rained a lot (which made for fun on the ATV trails!). We received great feedback from attendees, a number of whom had never touched a firearm before so thoroughly enjoyed getting to shoot pistols and rifles in a safe and educational environment.
